Fyffe Palmer Track

To access this track follow Ludstone Road to Mount Fyffe Road, turn right and carry on to the top end of the road to a parking area. From here follow the marker poles across farmland to the regenerating forest edge. Different stages of regeneration can be observed along the track as you first pass through tree ferns and into smaller trees on the fringe of the main forest. Once in the forest proper you can see giants such as Matai, Totara and Rimu as well as many other types of smaller trees and shrubs. When these plants are in flower or berry, birdlife is plentiful in the area. A picnic spot on the track with views towards the peninsula provides a pleasant spot for a rest.
