HISTORY of the WOODMountains
Wood for these bowls has been salvaged from farmlands, riverbeds or beaches and comes from once majestic trees that grew high on the mountainsides. Mountain bushThe trees, some hundreds of years old, have either died or fallen in landslides, then been washed down the steep river beds during floods.

Some of these trees are now are and can be found growing only in very remote places or national parks.

On their journey down the rivers a lot of the logs are smashed into pieces as they pass through narrow, bouldery gorges.

It is these pieces that inspire and dictate the size and shape of the finished products.

The wood is gathered, rough shaped by adze and chisel, then put aside to dry out.

The final process after hours of scraping and sanding, is polishing with natural bees wax to bring out the grain of the wood.
