The Old Convent bed and breakfast, built for French
nuns in 1910 is set in 2.5 acres of trees and gardens.
Owned by New Zealanders whose great grandparents came
to the area in 1855, the Old Convent is a friendly
house brimming with local and New Zealand knowledge
and a wonderful place to relax in peaceful surroundings.
There is a swimming pool, bikes to ride, petanque,
volleyball and croquet to play.
A continental and cooked breakfast is offered and
guests enjoy our homemade jams, yoghurt and muesli
with lots of fresh fruit, some from our own trees.
The
Old Convent is just four minutes drive from
Whale Watch and Kaikoura township.

Dinner
at the Old Convent
Come
for dinner in the former parlour and music room or
on summer evenings dine al fresco on the deck under
the mountains. Superb choice of food (including crayfish),
wonderful dinner companions,
lively conversation and a good time is had by all
in a beautiful setting. You can eat
at a separate table but most guests enjoy sitting
with others at our tables of six or eight.
Local wines available from the Old Convent bar.
Outside guests should ring to book.

Directions:
From the north look for the Old Convent sign on the
edge of town: turn right into Mill Rd and continue for
just over a kilometre.
From the south: follow the Picton sign into Kaikoura,
at the bottom of the hill turn left into Ludstone Rd,
drive past the museum, bowling club and school into
the countryside and turn right on Mt Fyffe Rd. Continue
to Mill Rd. |
